Chris Danjuma confident of Plateau United

Plateau United's gaffer, Chris Danjuma, is optimistic that the Jos-based side will do well in the forthcoming NNL season and will return to the top flight.

The former Plateau United attacking midfielder told supersport.com in Jos that his wards are gradually getting to their peak as the new season looms.

"We are in closed camping now and trying to get the boys in tip-top shape before the season starts.

"There wasn't a screening routine as reports have been indicated, rather we invited certain players to assess them.

"This was done so that we can shore up areas we felt needed reinforcement in the team," Danjuma said.

Danjuma, who is now a pastor and was also a former player of the team during their Highlanders days, also told supersport.com about his targets for the upcoming Nigeria National League season.

"You'll agree with me that Plateau United belongs to the top echelon in Nigerian football,"he said.

"We narrowly missed promotion last season, so logically the aim will be to get back to the top flight. I'm optimistic we can achieve this.

"I have a group of dedicated players and I pray our plans pan out well, so that our hard work will bear dividends."

Plateau United finished fourth in the Division A of the past Nigeria National League season with 46 points from 28 matches and missed out on promotion to the Glo Premier League.

Giwa FC, FC Taraba, Abia Warriors and Crown FC were the teams that got promoted from the NNL.
